DRIVE Services Supported Living LLC
How The Agency Got Started and What We Do
Hello I am Jean Linghor-Pittsenbarger the Owner/Administrator of DRIVE Services Supported Living LLC. My inspiration for starting this agency is my son who has special needs, he is now 39 years old and I still care for him in my home. I wanted to do something that made a difference in the lives of intellectually disabled adults. I went to college and received my Bachelor's Degree in Human Services and a Minor in Psychology. Once I graduated I went to work as a Direct Support Professional, I learned everything I could in my 8 years as a DSP and promoted to a Manager I worked as a manager for 5 years. I decided I would like to open my own agency and I worked towards getting a state license which was approved in April 2009. I then kept calling the Department of Developmental Disabilities to get my foot in the door hoping to be contracted with them to be referred individuals. In September of 2009 I was offered a contract with DDA and 2 individual referrals. The 2 individuals moved into a home in Spokane in January 2010. I now have 7 homes.
We support disabled adults to live in the community in their own homes with 24/7 support. We provide Positive Behavior Support, Payee Services to the individuals we support at no cost, Medication Management to include Nurse Delegation for individuals who need that support, and Person Centered Support Plans that are based on each individuals needs.

Things that set us apart from other agencies are we are a smaller agency and we don't plan to be any bigger. We have an on call number 24/7 for emergencies and someone answers the phone who can give immediate assistance.
We believe our employees are important and we have a lot of staff in the homes to keep employees and individuals safe. With the high staff to client ratio it doesn't afford for wages to be negotiated.
We provide company vehicles for employees to use to get individuals into the community and to do necessary shopping and appointments. To drive a company vehicle employees must provide a Driving Abstract, have a valid Drivers License and read the safe driving manual and take the quiz.

If interested you can stop by the office any weekday between 10am and 3pm to apply and interview. We are also on Indeed.com.

Our job is to help people identify their talent, develop the behaviour (competencies/ skills) for that talent, and find a context in which they can carry out that talent in the form of a valued social role.
Whether we see someone for an hour a week, or live with them 24/7, there are actions we can take both big and small, that can support a person to maintain valued roles. Valued roles help people who are vulnerable to be accepted in the community, to experience a sense of belonging, and to be able to contribute according to their strengths. All people want to feel valued in their community. All people want to have a sense of purpose.
